12-15-07: Rachel by Rachel
Another family re-org to report. I've sold Miru (disappointed by her yellowing) and Bunny (bonding issues) and acquired a gorgeous CH Miya with gothic faceup and body blushing by the fabulous Evenstar Design. I never thought I could afford one of Rachel Graves' dolls but "Rikku" showed up on eBay at a reasonable BIN price and I pounced. I call her Rachel because it suits her, is such a pretty name and honors the artist.

Teeny Tiny Tannies
Currently I have Kate for sale on eBay because I'm trying to raise money to order one (or more) of those adorable LatiDoll limited tan tinies. They're all so cute it's difficult to decide which one I want. Leaning toward 20cm yellow line special Cookie with the sweet sad eyes. Also captivated by 12cm white line Lily and her button nose and surprised expression and Belle who is as cute and pouty as they come. How to decide??? I may have to flip a 3 sided coin because I change my mind every time I see them!

Whisper of Water Hanael arrived some time ago but I don't get a peek inside the box until Christmas :(  I'm dying to see her in person!!!

Ten days and counting...

11-7-07: Okay now I'm REALLY spoiled! I received my F26 the other day and still can't get over how absolutely beautiful Volks sunlight skin is in person. It's smooth and creamy with a honey tone, almost like porcelain but MUCH nicer.

I hear a Symphony
Her name came easily if somewhat accidentally. My daughter and I were perusing a baby naming book when she misread "Cynthia" as "Symphony" and it struck a chord in me (no pun intended :) Can't explain why I think it's perfect but somehow it fits her.

I love the Volks faceup although the eyebrows are a little weird. At times I think they they just gotta go...and other times I like them. Like in this picture. I may try to wipe them and paint new ones at some point, although at the moment I'm too worried it might damage the rest of the faceup which I'd really like to preserve.

11-7-07: Quick update to introduce Noella, who arrived on Monday.

Sweet Dulce
She has such a sweet face so I had to name her Dulce, which means "sweet". The wigs that came with her are really cute, and her default dark gray glass eyes are beautiful. I tried out different  wigs and eyes though and am quite partial to this look:

FCS dreams
I'm really excited about a partial trade in progress: my CH Glamorous White Hyun (Bianca) for a Volks sunlight skin SD13 F26 + cash. F26 is Sato and although I've dreamed of owning that amazing sculpt, I've been intimidated by the whole FCS thing because the doll has to be ordered in store or bought through a buying agent - and of course the wait is very long.

OMG I'm really getting an F26!!! Must go pack Bianca for shipping...

10-24-07: Okay where were we? That's right, waiting for Mariel who took about 6 weeks to get here.

Blue eyes and bunny ears
She was so much fun to open...ohhhh all those little outfits and shoes! Normally I would be experimenting with wigs and eyes right now but she hasn't yet received the attention she deserves because I got sidetracked by the amazingly quick arrival of my two little Bisous. More on that in a minute...

The bunny raincoat just does me in - how CUTE are those ears?? Of course being the highly creative individual that I am, I gave her the highly creative name "Bunny" ;)

Here's a quick pic taken outside on a dreary day (this morning actually)...sorry for the glow but white skin is so very difficult to photograph unless you have just the right lighting:

Love those boots!

Petite Petites???
As if Petite Ais weren't little and cute enough, CustomHouse now tempts us with Ange and Bisou Ai. Ange Ai are roughly the same size as YoSD and Bambicrony - probably the reason I'm not falling over myself to get one. Been there, done that.

On the other hand I don't have anything the size of  Bisou Ai, which are sweet little 19cm dolls that look like miniature Petite Ais - OMG I HAD TO HAVE ONE!!!! Or two actually since I couldn't decide between Bonbon and Shushu and they came cheap by BJD standards. CH has been taking 6 weeks to two months to get their dolls sent out, so imagine my surprise when my two Bisous arrived in less than two weeks!!

Shushu (Edie) is wearing the pink dress, Bonbon (Libby) is wearing green. I had absolutely nothing in their size, so I quickly ordered some sweet Boneka clothing made for Riley Kish which arrived just barely before they did! The fit is perfect but Riley shoes are too small. Currently I have on order a couple pairs of 10mm eyes and three size 4/5 mohair wigs.

Noella, where are you?
Must mention that I had spent my newfound riches on a Dollga Noella Open Eyes Twinset in mid- September. Still waiting for my big girl.

Mermaid Love
Whisper of Water Fairy Ai Hanael  I had to get up really early on a Saturday morning to snag one of these beauties, but success is oh so sweet! My hubby is giving her to me for Christmas, how awesome is that? That stunning faceup! Those eyes! Those wings! Those webbed hands! It'll be hard to wait...

9-9-07: I've been busy behind the scenes this past month messing with bodies, Unoa parts and Marie Antoinette. Sounds sick :D

Attack of the body snatchers :O
My minimee Anne now has a brand new AOD body - very pretty sculpt, a perfect resin match and of course a price that can only be had from China. She graciously returned her temporary body to Kate, who was quite happy to exit the nasty box of disembodied heads.

Rose hails from the bobble headed April minimee group, so a normal MSD body is proportionately all wrong. I located a cheap CH Jr Irang (like Lily, except normal skin) on DoA and pretty much bought the poor girl for her just slightly larger than MSD sized body. It's the perfect size for Rose, adequate resin match and childish enough to belong to an 8 year old so I'm very satisfied.

The Irang head is too cute though...can't bear to sell it off just yet so it's currently wearing Misty's body. Poor Misty finally got her body back from Rose, then had it unceremoniously snatched once again! :)

Every woman needs demon horns and high heels in her closet
I noticed a lot of Unoa parts popping up for sale (latest 6 month preorder must've shipped) so for a decent price I acquired a pair of the elusive high heeled shoe/feet I've been coveting for the past few years. Painted them black and attached them to her curvy legs. Funny how they look a bit like hooves, so coupled with new black demon horns, Kitty's evolved into a whole new animal! I also bought her a Lusis face to cement her schizophrenia, wiped her default faceplate to give her a new faceup, blushed her body and restrung her!

Some photos of all this would be nice, eh? I'll work on that soon.

I do have new pix though! Ready for an onslaught of young Marie Antoinette? I'm like a kid in a candy store (without money) whenever I go looking through Haute Doll's boutique. Somehow I managed to scrape together enough to buy a few gowns and accessories.

Haute Doll magazine + Val Zeitler + Dollheart = EVIL
Look at my beautiful girls in their period costumes!(more pix in the gallery):

You may be wondering "Where oh where did you get all this money?" Well, I got it from sacrificing my limited tan elf Kumi, D1 flexi body and Unoa O face to the DoA and eBay gods. Misty's head may be next, and possibly all of Miru...

Dollga Noella has captured my heart :)

-31-07: Miriam 2nd is here! Perhaps not very original but the moment I looked at her I thought "Rhiannon" so the name has stuck. Well she's a "young witch", right??

Somehow she came loose during shipping and her faceplate rubbed against the green box. I was horrified when I saw the green streaks across her forehead and nose. Fortunately it came off pretty easily with Magic Eraser, although I had to leave a miniscule bit of green by her eyebrow because I didn't want to rub the eyebrow off. Anyway, despite the packing mishap I'm very pleased with her.

Here's Rhiannon with hair and an ill-fitting Barbie dress :) She's fantastic - versatile and so lovely! Definitely the most underrated tiny on the market.

Suppose I should mention the latest impulse buy... I couldn't resist Mariel from CustomHouse's "Hi! Raincoat Children" series and had a $65 credit with CH so...make way for Petite Ai! Man those kids are seriously selling out fast!

She comes with 2 outfits, raincoat, boots and another pair of shoes and is very reasonably priced. She should be here in 4-5 weeks so errg another long wait!

7-14-07: Oops forgot to mention Kitty's newest faceplate. What a find - ver 1.0 sleeping with faceup by the incomparable Sairin!! I bagged it off eBay awhile ago (from Aimee).

Isn't she pretty??

Not sure what makes her different but I'm finding it extra hard to wait for witchy Miriam. I need to get a grip because I only ordered her a week ago and it's not like I don't know the drill!

Drool, buy, pay immediately and wait....and wait....and wait....and wait longer than you think you can stand...and wait some more.

7-10-07: Taking a quick detour from the minimees, let me introduce my newest girl: CP Mini Fee Shushu. Honestly I spent MONTHS trying to talk myself out of ordering her but gave in at the end so clearly I have no self control whatsoever. She arrived this afternoon looking so sweet in her bubbles of bubble wrap! One thing you have to say about Luts - they KNOW how to pack a doll :)

Without further ado here she is: wig, outfit and faceup by Luts.

Going back to the subject of minimees, Rose arrived awhile ago and while she's cute and sort of resembles Devon, the faceup is way off. I was about to try my hand at painting the spare head when I discovered my can of Mr. Super Clear had vanished. Can't do a faceup without it!

Bums me out because it was almost a full can. Anyway I've just gone ahead and reluctantly ordered Mr Topcoat from Volks since their MSC is out of stock. Hope it works as well. I won't post pix of Rose until after I've done her faceup.

Last but not least, I'm waiting on one more dolly: Notdoll's Miriam the second - Young Witch (once again proving I have no self control!). But...it's okay cuz she's a tiny!

Too bad her price tag isn't tiny :)

I really love Miriam's sculpt, but Miriam the first (I am so fine) is quite a disturbing piece of art. Try as I might I just can't get comfortable with the gaping wounds and dripping blood. Somehow those slashes on her limbs bring paper cuts to mind. Really PAINFUL paper cuts. (**shudders**)

Okay if you must, this is Miriam 1st, I Am So Fine:  http://www.notdolllab.com/shop/step1.php?number=424 Ewww! She doesn't look fine to me. More like she needs a trip to the ER. Wonder if those cuts are supposed to be self inflicted.

This is my Miriam, the 2nd - Young Witch: http://www.notdolllab.com/shop/step1.php?number=426  Spooky yes, but in a less gruesome way. I love this one.

6-7-07: Well I give up. I've taken loads of pix with Anne in an attempt to show our similarities but I've come to the conclusion that we look NOTHING alike!

Okay that's exaggerating a bit. There really IS a resemblance but both my digital camera and webcam REFUSE to show it! Blame it on the skin color disparity.

In just a tiny amount of light Anne's pale skin reflects in the pix like glowing neon. For example, this is near a window in natural indoor lighting...ghost doll!

Maybe a little dolly tan might help? :)

Whatever!

I think she may be anemic, poor thing!

5-31-07: My minimee has arrived!!! She's very different from the other dolls no doubt because she's meant to be realistic while they are not. She's kinda cute as long as I keep her separated from them :) I've decided to call her by my middle name: Anne.

Anne's DIM faceup is really nice but the lips were a little too smiley and orange so I've tweaked them and also added eyelashes. There were no grooves inside the head near the neck hole so I drilled some. The groove is needed to keep the S hook in place and stabilize the head.

I've temporarily attached her head to Kate's CH normal skin new body because the resin match is perfect. Eventually Kate will get her body back when DIM Minimee bodies are available for purchase. I may need to modify the neck hole but will wait until her permanent body arrives to be sure of the fit. Her head sits awkwardly and too high on the CH body - sort of a giraffe effect!

Her skin color is very fair and her face is too slim so she doesn't look exactly like me (see comparison pix from 4-6-07), but she's an interesting stylized version of me and I'm pleased with the results.

My daughter's minimee (Rose) is still in the works and I don't expect to see her before July. Denny sent preview pix a few weeks ago and yes they are about as scary as mine! Same deal, 80% realistic. Although Devon has a lovely smile, I think a widely smiling BJD would be creepy so I sent him expressionless pix.

Here's my chubby cheeked eyeless demon spawn :)

Fingers crossed she comes out looking half as cute as this :)

It's hard to see a resemblance right now but I'm confident it will work out in the end.

4-6-07: Minimee preview pix are here......

Okay I admit that my first horrified thought was "I, Robot" - OMG save me Will Smith!!

But...if you can see past the absence of flesh, eyeballs, eyebrows, eyelashes and hair, even in clay form there is a remarkable resemblance - at least 80% as Denny promised. The heads will be cast in resin next week, then painted and shipped. Hope to have her in 2 - 3 weeks tops. I do see potential and am confident that this doll will be less frightening and quite unique when she's done. She'll certainly give Andromeda a run for her money in the realism department.

What should I call her? It's too weird to use my given name.

Now that I see how talented these sculptors are, I REALLY want one made of my little girl some day if I can swing it. She's 8 years old, perfectly in scale height-wise to be an MSD to my SD size.

Oh and I'll have to ask Denny to tell the sculptor that I'm grateful for the facelift he/she's given me! :)

3-22-07: Easy come easy go - stunning Unoa 2nd Mocha lasted about 5 minutes here sorry to say. I sold her in order to buy an ultra limited Bambicrony Misty Blue Elf Pepe full set. The misty blue elf full sets sold out lightening fast the day they were released so I was lucky to snag one at all. I love my little blue Pepe (named Azul) so it was a good snap decision. I'm not sorry that I chose the HG glass eyes over the Dollflower ones either because the violet eyes she came with are quite striking. I also saved $70 in the process which ain't too shabby!

There's something really mouthwatering about the color of Azul's frosty French resin skin. She looks like a cotton candy flavored popsicle!

Switching gears here, I'm no longer awaiting the elusive La Promesse Liebchen as I finally lost all patience and cancelled my order with Haute Doll. I'm perfectly willing to wait weeks and sometimes months for my dolls to be made, but nearly 8 long months proved to be the just the right amount of time to fall out of love. I'm confident that whenever she's completed, the doll that was meant for me will make someone else very happy some day...most likely in the far far future.

So as not to waste a perfectly beautiful picture, here is Unoa Mocha with faceup by Phantom, a brief visitor to this strange land:

I'm not a 16" fashion doll fan no matter how resiny and ball jointy they are, as evidenced by my former brief ownership of Sybarite Skye. I need to stop buying them!

Finally, I'm really excited about my next doll project. Doll In Mind is offering a really unique opportunity to get a custom made doll head sculpted from pix that we provide, and the introductory price is quite reasonable. DIM is calling the project "Minimee" which may or may not be a copyright infringement...but I won't argue :)

I'll have to scrape together enough to buy a body as well, but DIM said they're working on offering a low cost body for the Minimee heads so fingers crossed their definition of low cost is the same as mine! Having a portrait doll made of myself is totally narcissistic, isn't it?  It's something that's always interested me though so I'd be crazy not to take advantage. It'll be fun to dress little me up in all kinds of strange outfits and wigs that big me would never be caught dead wearing! My shrunken head is supposed to take something like 50 days to complete so it'll be awhile. Stay tuned but don't hold your breath!

In the meantime I'm obsessing over finding eyes of exactly my eye color and a wig that looks like my hair. Definitely found the eyes - Eyeco's "Cypress". I'm hoping 15mm is somewhere near the correct size. They're definitely small-ish, but I want the irises to be on the small side. The Volks Emma wig is very close to my hair in terms of color and style around the face, although I'll have to give it a bit of hair cut to lose the curls and make it the right length. I'll also have to skew it a bit on the doll to create an off center part. I'm surprised by how hard it is to find the right wig. Doll wigs are fantasy for sure - not too many "normal" hairstyles seem to be available.

2-4-07: Just a quickie to add some more pix to the gallery. Only one new doll has joined the family since the last update, Unoa 2nd Mocha with faceup by phantomdolls. Although I do have a number of new photos to share, ironically I don't have one of her. Sorry, she's on the menu for next time.

I'm taking a temporary break from selling and buying dolls. First and foremost: I'm all out of money! Like really REALLY broke. The holidays and end of year expenses have drained the long suffering bank account. In order to buy new dolls I must sell old ones and frankly I can't bear to part with any of them at this point.

Secondly, judging by the action (or inaction I should say) on eBay, it's a bad time of year to sell anything since many people are in the same financial slump. It's hard enough to contemplate parting with a much loved doll, worse to let him/her go for less than full value.

Not to say that I'm not still salivating over some lovelies I would be happy to own! Bambicrony is releasing ice blue resin versions of the Kumi and Roko elves on Feb 12th...so far only a teaser pic on their website but I literally want to EAT whoever's little backside is in that photo! They have plans to release a rainbow of different colored elves...how cute!! I'm also yearning for CP Kid Delf Cherry and Mini Fee Shushu. Someday, some way.

I'll leave you with my newest fav shot of Ivy in Wonderland, a sunny girl to warm a cold winter day:

1-6-07: Happy New Year!

Out: Nobody (again!)

In: N-Doll Special Miru, Bambicrony Tan Elf Kumi

Awaiting: Unoa 2nd Mocha

Thinking about cancelling order: La Promesse Liebchen :(

Hooray BambiCrony! I decided to order little elf Kumi with tanning skin at the end of Nov hoping she'd make it in time to be my Christmas present. She was here in record time...by 12/15! I'm very pleased with BambiCrony's quick service.

Kumi's white magnetic wings are fun. The magnets are even strong enough to hold thru clothing!

I wasn't impressed with her default wigs and eyes, so I tried Kitty's pink Shitateya wig and replaced her eyes with 12mm Grape Eye Candies. Isn't she cute?

The eye size is much better than the defaults - these small irises have given her little face an endearing, earnest expression.

When I was in northeastern Ohio visiting family over the holidays, I made a trip to Catrina's Dollfair International shop in North Olmsted to check out her wares. Intending to make it an annual pilgrimage from here on out!

I'd been expecting to buy a few wigs and Bliss outfits and hopefully escape with my wallet intact, but instead I fell in love with N-Doll Miru, suffered a few moments of tortured indecison, then plunked down my poor abused credit card and grabbed her!

Catrina is the nicest person - very gracious, helpful and patient! She showed me the two special 58cm Limwha girls and got me dreaming of a Half Elf as my next doll...thank God those particular dolls weren't for sale or I'd be in major financial trouble right now!

Back to Miru. She and her sister Miso were designed and sculpted by Park Jung Yoon, one of Bimong's talented students. This Miru was released in a limited edition of 20 especially for Dollfair.

She comes with a gorgeous black leather & lace outfit (which I need to photograph), brown/black mohair wig, 2 pairs of feet (high heeled & flat) and pretty brown glass eyes.

How could I pass her up?

I love her body sculpt - very sexy and natural.
